The outdoor covered Art Space was a project brought to fruition by the efforts of the community group Friends of the Manning Regional Art Gallery (FOGs). In the context of a locally listed heritage building we were determined to avoid the poor copy attempt of a previous extension. Instead we proposed a lofty contemporary canopy with a careful relationship to the art gallery that preserved the integrity of both structures. The covered deck became an ‘Art Space’ in its own right and a modern interpretation of the existing verandah.
